Ice bottle gets on fire
Based on the story line the ice chunk (bottle mold) had to be build by stacking small ice cubes in certain order. This idea was delivered by adding just a few last cubes to almost completed and perfect shape of the ice chunk, revealing itself to be a perfect ice mold for a bottle, when 3D camera turned around. We have created a digital asset (using simple SOP Metaballs, VOP Shader, POP Network etc.) to simulate “cold fire” embracing the ice bottle from bottom up. To get a live fire kinematics the real bottle was fired up for references.

The explosion scene
Few geometry cracks were done for a macro plan (using SOP Network). The scene of explosion was build in reverse order, from the chaotically separated pieces. To enhance the explosion effect we did “shake” the 3D camera and added a bright light flash at the final scene during composing stage. The entire animation and final vusualization were performed with Houdini software.
